Therapy for religious trauma…

Have you ever believed in a religion that taught you there is something fundamentally wrong with you? Some part of you that will always need fixing, saving, or changing? Were you influenced by purity culture which taught you that your body wasn’t yours to be enjoyed? Do you feel lost and hopeless after losing a faith that gave you meaning and purpose?

Many of us raised in high-demand religions internalized the idea that we are somehow, at our essence, wrong. Whether you internalized this messaging because you were queer in a homophobic religion, a woman in a patriarchal religion, a person of color in a white supremacist religion, or a sexual being developing in purity culture, you deserve to find healing and wholeness for yourself, within yourself.

I work with clients from these backgrounds to reclaim their fundamental sense of worthiness. I work from the strongly held belief that we are all enough. You don’t need outside salvation. You are not inherently bad or wrong. Your body and sexuality are gifts for you to delight and find pleasure in. Dismantling internalized fundamentalist ideology is painful, hard work. But on the other side of these constricted ways of thinking there is freedom to love yourself, love those around you, and flourish.
